5 Tips for Intuitive Eating

It’s Thanksgiving week! And that means we’re officially in a time of year that I like to call Eating Season.
And here at Heather Solves Everything, all of my coaching calls this week have been about intuitive eating, and how to get through the holidays without losing control around food. 

So I decided to put together a special episode just about that, and to offer up five things to think about as you approach the Thanksgiving table.

The point of these five tips is to help you turn down the urgency and turn up the trust during the holidays. I want you to enjoy the scents and flavors of the season with your arms and hearts open wide, not feeling like you can only enjoy them within a controlled setting, or that there are some foods that you can’t have, or that you have to do some kind of penance for eating them. I hope that your Thanksgiving is full of blessings, including a feeling of partnership with yourself so you can relax, exhale, connect with your body, and make your first bite the best one.

Intuitive eating is something that takes some time to learn and master, so don’t expect yourself to flip a switch and undo a lifetime of learned food rituals and self talk. And, if you’d like to learn more about intuitive eating, I’ll be offering a class that begins in January. It’s called Am I Hungry, and all of the tips today came from the class.

Living Your Boundaries During the Holidays w/ Glen Alex

Glen Alex is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Author of Living In Total Health, which won the Indie Book Award in 2021. She has a mission to help people be more joyful, connected, confident and complete. She is also the guiding spirit behind The Glen Alex Show, GlenAlex.com, Healthy Boundaries for Overwhelmed Women online course, and other services in fulfillment of her transformative mission. 

Glen’s health journey began with boundaries. As a child, she was so engaged by the nuance of interaction—when people smiled, cringed, and when pain crossed their faces. She remembers vowing to not be the one to cause another person pain, unnecessarily. She saw boundaries respected and boundaries violated, and it stuck. From that, Glen developed a unique and no nonsense perspective to help others lead their healthiest and most joyful life.

In this episode, we discuss the four types of boundaries, five truths of boundaries, and how you can enjoy the holidays with just the right amount of whelm.

My guest today is Alan Carroll, an Education Psychologist, specializing in Transpersonal Psychology. My guest this week is speaking to you.

Author Connie Ellefson is an engineer and professional organizer working in the Denver metro area. Since 2008, she has helped others discover greater creativity and increase energy that was tied up in unnecessary clutter. Whether physical, emotional, or possessional, clutter takes up space in our psyches and calendars that could be put to much more productive, creative, and fun use. 

In this episode she shows how decluttering can be accomplished not only physically, but spiritually and mentally. She’s pulling advice directly from her book, Clear the Space and Feel the Rush, available on Amazon.
